Sheffield care service wins national award for social hub project
Cygnet Social Care has won the Tenant Co-Production award at the Housing with Care Awards for its social hub project at The Fields in Sheffield.
The project transformed unused spaces across nearly 40 services into social hubs co-designed by staff and service users, offering safe environments for relaxation and socialising.
The Fields, a residential service for adults with learning disabilities, was the first Cygnet site to introduce a social hub in 2025, which contributed to the award win last week.
Residents collaborated with staff and Experts by Experience to design the hub, featuring arcade machines, a nail bar and sensory areas that reflect individual interests.
The initiative empowered residents, allowing them to shape their environment, rediscover skills and enhance independence and confidence.
Anne-Marie Williams, manager of The Fields, said: “This recognition belongs to our residents. The Social Hub is a direct result of their ideas, creativity and collaboration.”
Judges praised the inclusive and accessible approach and the meaningful impact on quality of life.
