£200,000 in grants available for new South Yorkshire cancer support projects
Weston Park Cancer Charity is inviting applications for grants of up to £50,000 per project for new initiatives supporting people affected by cancer.

The scheme aims to inspire innovation across the NHS and the community sector. It’s open to local projects that support people affected by cancer or improve regional cancer outcomes.
Each project can apply for a grant of between £10,000 and £50,000, and the deadline for applications is November 30.
The charity is looking for community or hospital related projects, from individuals, groups or organisations with the aim of supporting people with a cancer diagnosis. Projects must align with one or both of the priority areas for this round; treatment and care, or early diagnosis and prevention.
Imogen Winter, Grant-giving Officer the charity, said: “Over the years, our grants have helped so many incredible projects to thrive and make a real difference to local people impacted by cancer.
“This year, we’re looking to support new initiatives, rather than ongoing projects. These grants are made possible by our fantastic supporters, and we’d like to thank them for their unwavering generosity.”
Julia Jessop, Managing Director at South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw Cancer Alliance which is working in partnership on the project, said: “By investing in forward-thinking initiatives, this new partnership aims to transform cancer outcomes across our region.
“We hope this funding inspires individuals and organisations of all sizes to come forward with their ideas. Often, the people closest to the challenges are best placed to identify solutions. So, no idea is too small – let’s explore it together, because even a small idea could make a big difference."
The charity’s large grants have previously helped to establish crucial services, including a new clinic for breast cancer treatment-induced menopause at Weston Park Cancer Centre.
Last year, Weston Park Cancer Charity also awarded a large grant to Sew Mindful Crafts’ Sew Strong project, which offers wellbeing-boosting sewing and quilting classes to people who have experienced cancer.
Mick Perry, Managing Director of Sew Mindful Crafts CIC, said: “If you’ve got an idea that could benefit people affected by cancer in your community, then I’d definitely apply for a Weston Park Cancer Charity grant.
“Not only did the charity provide funding for the Sew Strong project, but it’s continued to offer support and guidance along the way – which has been great.”
