Lord Mayor’s dinner raises more than £8,000 for Sheffield charities
The 2026 Lord Mayor of Sheffield’s charity dinner has raised more than £8,000 for two South Yorkshire charities.

The evening of dining, live entertainment, fundraising and community support at Hillsborough Football Stadium was hosted by Lord Mayor Coun Andrew Sangar and organised by John Campbell and Elaine Senior.
It was sponsored by Sheffield Wednesday Football Club, Unison Sheffield Teaching Hospitals, China Red and the Gripple Foundation.
With an auction conducted by Terry Fox, the event raised a final of total of £8,450.00, which will be split between the evening’s two charities, Roundabout and Yorkshire MESMAC.
And there was also an opportunity for guests to understand why the work of Roundabout is so important when Anna, one of the young people supported by the charity, shared her own story and experiences.
“It was wonderful to see so many people come together in support of such important causes,” said Coun Sangar.
“The generosity shown by everyone who attended will make a real difference to the lives of those supported by these fantastic organisations.
“One of the evening’s most powerful moments was hearing Anna share her personal story and the difference Roundabout has made to her life.
“Her heartfelt speech was a highlight that I am sure will have left those in the room with a lasting message about the importance of the charity’s work.”
Roundabout Fundraising Manager Emily Jones commented: “As we approach our 50th anniversary, fundraising remains as important as ever.
“Every day, Roundabout works with more than 500 young people across our services, helping them build brighter futures and move away from homelessness.
“The amount raised by the Lord Mayor and his guests will make a real difference to the young people we support, and we are incredibly grateful for their generosity and commitment to our cause.”
Organiser Elaine Senior commented: “Planning an event of this scale can be a nerve-wracking experience.
“However, the business and community groups in Sheffield came together to make us proud.
“The sponsors of the event made it possible for us to host a wonderful evening, with good food, a fabulous band and some excellent raffle and auction prizes.
“The guests who attended all had a great time and were very generous with their purchase of raffle tickets and bids for the auction. It was a great honour to have delivered such a fun event.”
