The former England captain established himself as one of his generation’s leading all-rounders, scoring 14 centuries and taking 383 wickets during his career.

Botham played among a prominent generation of international all-rounders during the 1980s. His performances with bat and ball helped England secure a 3-1 victory in the 1981 Ashes, a series that became known as Botham’s Ashes.

He was the fastest player to complete the double of 1,000 runs and 100 wickets and broke the world record for the most Test wickets. He ended his career with 5,200 runs and 383 wickets.

In 2007, Botham was knighted for his services to cricket and charity.

At the Sheffield event, Lord Ian will discuss his career and the experiences surrounding it. Cricket legend Geoff Miller OBE will host the appearance.
