The Show team has announced an action-packed Main Ring programme and exceptional entries across all sections.

Chairman Andrew Critchlow says that despite the drought and the other challenges facing farmers this year, interest in both the sheep and cattle classes remains strong.

"We have the highest number of cattle entries for several years, including 16 Longhorns in four classes and good numbers of continental breeds.

"Once again, there will be strong competition in the local native sheep breeds including 107 Whitefaced Woodlands and 100 Derbyshire Gritstones. We are delighted to see so many Young Handlers entered, demonstrating once again that farming in the area has a bright future.

"We have over 100 vintage cars on show and 120 vintage tractors, which will be in the Main Ring around lunchtime and are always a highlight of the show."

This year's Hope Show takes place on Bank Holiday Monday, August 31, at Hope Showground, Marsh Farm, Hope. Visit www.hopeshow.co.uk.
