Bents Green School awarded Trauma Informed Schools UK re-accreditation
Bents Green School is celebrating after once again achieving accreditation from Trauma Informed Schools UK, recognising its commitment to helping pupils feel safe and ready to learn.

The school, which provides specialist education for young people aged 11-19 with Autistic Spectrum Conditions and Communication and Interaction difficulties, was re-accredited following a two-day assessment across its four sites at Ringinglow, Gleadless, Handsworth Hub and Enterprise Works.
During the visit, assessors met with staff and pupils, observed lessons and reviewed evidence of the school's day-to-day practice.

The report praised the school's caring and consistent approach, highlighting how staff create an environment where pupils feel respected and understood. Inspectors said strong relationships are at the heart of the school's work, helping even the most vulnerable pupils develop trust and a sense of belonging.
The assessment also recognised the way staff support pupils to understand and manage their emotions, helping them feel calm and ready to learn. Inspectors praised the school's reflective culture, where pupils and staff are encouraged to talk through challenges, learn from experiences and rebuild confidence following difficult situations.
The report concluded that Bents Green School has created "a compassionate, relational and developmentally informed culture", meeting the standards required for accreditation.
Elena Drayson, Head of School, said: "We're so pleased to have received this accreditation again. It's wonderful to see the work our staff put in every day recognised in this way because creating a school where pupils feel safe, understood and able to succeed is something we never lose sight of.

“We couldn't do this without the trust and support of our families, and our staff show incredible care and commitment every day. This is something the whole Bents Green community can be proud of."
