Former bare-knuckle boxer Willy Collins died suddenly on holiday in Spain last summer, aged just 49, and this was the first Valentine’s Day his widow Kathleen had spent without him since they first met.

Her family prepared a lavish celebration of his life to mark the occasion, transforming the family living room into a shrine filled with flowers, candles and heart-shaped balloons.

They did it all without Kathleen’s knowledge and filmed her emotional response as she walked into the room.

Shannon Collins, who shared the footage, said: “Mummy’s first Valentine’s with out Daddy so we all surprised her.”

Mr Collins’ funeral, featuring a fleet of Rolls Royces, had brought the streets of Sheffield to a standstill last August as members of the travelling community turned out in their droves to pay their last respects.
