Youngsters get together to tidy area

A GROUP of determined youngsters from Wadsley will dedicate their Bank Holiday weekend to cleaning up the area where they live.

Around 50 people, most of them teenagers, will camp out at Wadsley Parish Church on Worrall Road, as part of the Streetreach 2008 project.

The group will sleep at the church at night and help out in the community during the day.

Work will include helping Streetforce with its street cleaning activities and hosting a free family fair at Wadsley Parish Church on Monday afternoon.

Lizzie Wallace, a community minister for Wadsley Parish Church, who helped to set up the Streetreach project, said: “It is a great opportunity to involve young people in a rewarding project that is supported by a host of volunteers and by Streetforce who are supplying all the litter collection equipment.”
