World class fun at event

DARNALL was transformed into a haven of colour when residents of all ages and races joined forces for an international day of culture.

Entertainment was provided by the Norfolk Heritage Park Majorettes, a steel band performed pop songs with a Carribean twist and Hina and Co put on a Bollywood dance.

Other activities included DJ workshops provided by Darnall Music Factory, a climbing tower and football.

The One World Day event took place in Darnall Neighbourhood Park and was organised by the Stovin, Uttley and Greenland estates Tenants and Residents Association.

To mark the occasion street artist Marco Manyou created a One World Day commemorative art work which will now be installed in the Greenlands Community Room.

Frank Turner, chair of the TARA, said: "This is the first event of this kind on the estate, and it's marvellous to see everyone having such a great time."

The event was opened by Clive Betts MP who said: "It's great to see local residents and community groups from Darnall working together to create a day for the community to enjoy."
