Woman, 90, conned

WORKSOP residents are being urged to be wary of cold callers after an OAP was forced to pay £1,000 for minor repairs to her brickwork.

The 90-year-old was approached at her Kilton Road home, Worksop, by three men. She was given a quote for work to repoint her chimney and paid up. Three days later the men returned and said more work was needed costing 1,000. The callous workmen took her son to the bank to withdraw the cash.

Police said the men were in their mid 30s and driving a white Ford Transit. PC Sean O’Sullivan said: “Never pay in cash, never agree to be taken to the bank to withdraw money.”
