Warning on divorce debts
A LEADING Sheffield lawyer is warning divorcees to be on their guard to ensure their ex-partner's debts cannot come back to haunt them.
Michaela Heathcote, from Taylor & Emmet Solicitors, is highlighting the importance of making a clean financial break when divorcing in order to safeguard the family home should one party become insolvent.
Michaela said: "It is no longer safe to assume that debts incurred by an ex-spouse cannot affect you if they still have a financial interest in your home."
