Two killed in East Coast biker crash
TWO South Yorkshire men have been killed in a weekend motorbike crash as they rode back from a trip to the East Coast.
The pair, both from Swinton, near Rotherham, were involved in a fatal collision as they led a convoy of four bikes back from Cleethorpes, on the B1203 at Swinhope near Market Rasen, on Saturday afternoon.
The rider was 43-year-old William Mansell, a lorry driver, of Manor Road, Swinton, and his pillion passenger was Martin Paul Rhodes, 31, a pipe fitter, also from Swinton.
Both men were taken to hospital after the collision with a car but died from their injuries.
Police said they believed the bike was travelling in convoy with three other motorbikes from the Swinton area when the crash happened and they have appealed for witnesses.
• A motorcyclist from Darton, Barnsley, is in the Northern General Hospital with life-threatening injuries after crashing into a hedgerow at Clayton yesterday morning.
The 44-year-old was riding a 750cc Suzuki with a another biker when he lost control.
