Tribute to snooker ace

A PLAQUE was unveiled in Sheffield yesterday to mark the first anniversary of the death of snooker player Paul Hunter.

The memorial, at the World Snooker Academy at the English Institute of Sport in Attercliffe, was unveiled by Daniel Wells, the inaugural recipient of the Paul Hunter Scholarship, an annual award which will allow a gifted young player to train there for a year.

The ceremony was watched by Paul's dad Alan and two of Paul's uncles.

The triangular-shaped plaque reads: 'In Memory Of Paul Hunter, October 14, 1978 to October 9, 2006. A Great Champion'.
