TRAFFIC ALERT: Bridge crash road chaos to continue

MOTORISTS were today advised to avoid the Lower Don Valley as a lane closure on Meadowhall Road continues.

Traffic problems in the area began after an HGV overturned on Monday and damaged a bridge parapet.

The Highways Agency put up barriers while work was carried out.

Traffic in the Meadowhall area was very heavy during last night's rush hour.

Motorists trying to access the M1 were asked to use the Parkway or travel eastwards.

The lane was expected to re-open later today but now the Highways Agency has confirmed it will remain closed this evening and drivers are warned to expect more delays, especially during rush hour.
