Three hurt as car crashes

A MAN was rushed to hospital with serious head and facial injuries after the car he was travelling in smashed into a lamppost in Sheffield.

The smash happened on Barnsley Road, Shirecliffe, in the early hours of yesterday morning.

Police said the injured man, a front seat passenger in the car, and the driver had to be cut free from the vehicle by firefighters.

A rear seat passenger also suffered a suspected broken jaw and head injuries, while the driver suffered minor head and leg injuries.

Commuters

faced traffic congestion on the Parkway yesterday following a collision between a HGV and a car. The out of the city carriageway was down to one lane for a short time following the incident near to Asda just after 4pm.
