Third time lucky for women racers:: Picture Gallery

ROTHERHAM'S Race For Life finally took place in spectacular style after hundreds of people turned out to support the event which had to be postponed twice because of the floods.

It was third time lucky for racers at Herringthorpe Stadium yesterday and organisers at Cancer Research UK have their fingers crossed they have hit their fund-raising target of more than 275,000.

There was a party atmosphere as crowds of racers got in the mood with entertaining warm-up routines and many groups of friends showed each other moral support by running side-by-side.

Hundreds turned up in fancy dress and scores more wore messages declaring the fact they were racing in memory of loved ones.

Pinks was the colour of the day as everything from clothes to hair and make-up was given a girly lift.

So many people put their names down to take part, organisers had to split the numbers and hold two races, one in the morning and another in the afternoon, to make sure nobody missed out.
