I’ve lived in Sheffield for six years now, and it’s definitely up there with the best cities in the UK to enjoy the summer.
Although the city is undeniably quieter with all the students enjoying a well-earned break, this doesn’t affect the amount of things to do and enjoy in the summer season in our lovely city.
From eating al fresco and soaking up the sun in one of our many green spaces, to seeing the full community come together for both Tramlines and the city-wide fringe event, it’s a city that keeps on giving.
One of the best events in July is Tramlines and the Fringe event. This event sees the whole city come together for a weekend of good music, good company, and a good boogie. If the sun is shining like it was this year, then it’s even better. Many pubs across the city get involved in the fringe event, so it’s a perfect way not only to support new and up and coming bands, but also your local pubs. Photo: Scott Merrylees
The Peace Gardens in the city centre are wonderful in the summertime. It’s a place for families to have picnics, children to play in the fountains, friends to catch-up, and workers to enjoy a spot of sun on their lunch break. I often eat my lunch here to make sure I’m having a proper lunch break with some fresh air and vitamin D.
