The Village Screen pop-up cinema is set to return to the Peak Cavern cave in Castleton to turn the cave into a stunning cinema experience, which organisers say will also be completely “Covid-secure.”

A selection of 12 blockbuster films will be shown over three weekends, between Thursday, June 3 and Sunday, June 20.

A spokesperson for Village Screen said: “There will be some family-favourites, with earlier start times for those with children, including The Goonies, Labyrinth, Jurassic Park and two films from the Indiana Jones franchise. The Village Screen will also be screening some absolute cult classics like Alien, The Lost Boys, The Breakfast Club and Stand By Me, as well as some more recent films including JoJo Rabbit and the terrifying, Us and The Descent.”

They added: “Audiences can expect a phenomenal, well organised, and safe experience. The event will be organised to adhere to all of the latest Government guidance and audience sizes will be scaled down in order to adhere with Step 3 of the Government’s Covid roadmap out of lockdown.”

Guests will be able to purchase food from local street food vendors in the car park area, before taking their seats inside the cave for the film.

Once seated, guests will be able to order drinks and cinema snacks to their seats via an app, and there will also be DJ entertainment.

Organisers say all furniture, surfaces and customer toilets will be frequently sanitised by Village Screen staff and there will be multiple handwashing facilities on site for guests too.

Customers will be able to purchase tickets in groups of 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 and there will also be a staggered arrival system in place to keep the event as safe as possible.

Groups will be seated in their “support bubbles” at the events; and will be socially distanced from others in attendance.

This summer will be The Village Screen’s fifth year at the Peak Cavern cave, and has previously sold out on several occasions.
