Take a nostalgic musical trip back down the years
Nostalgia and music will combine in a special event to mark 75 years since the DD Landings took place, and 80 years since the outbreak of World War Two.
Chapeltown Forum has planned the live music event on June 14, from 7.30pm in the Newton Hall, Cowley Lane.
Dressing for the era is optional, but the Forum hopes that many will enter the spirit of the event and dress accordingly.….from whichever decade appeals.
Forum member Susan Housley, otherwise known as the vocalist Susan St Nicholas, linked up to pursue the idea with forum chairman John Housley, and Alan Hackney, a conductor of his own band Class Act.
The result will be the show of vintage classics to which everyone is welcome.
This event will feature Sue, alongside her son Nick James.
Nick is another vocalist who was happy to agree to perform some classics from bygone eras for the occasion.
Those who attend tomorrow night can expect a musical evening of standards dating right back from the 1930s to the sounds of the swinging sixties.

The programme will cover a great selection of songs that everyone will know and love, and want to join in with, whether by singing along or getting up to dance.
It’s a real family affair as Sue’s husband Mike will also be on duty, in charge of sound production.
There will be a bar provided by the British Legion to purchase drinks and light refreshments.
Tickets are six pounds each and are available in four local outlets.
These include the RSPCA charity shop on Loundside, Chappachino Coffee Shop, the Foot Clinic on Station Road, or Time for Tea on Burncross Road next to the garden centre.
