Elliott Vaughan CEO of The Garrison says the outside pod seating will minimise any noise pollution problems, and only has the capacity for 50 covers inside and out.

The Garrison on Bawtry Road was formerly the The Branded Burger Co, before being transformed into a 1920s themed bar and kitchen shortly before the covid-19 pandemic hit.

Mr Vaughan says the business will still be running as a restaurant, but he “simply wants the flexibility to serve alcohol without food to have a few drinks before a meal elsewhere in the area, or vice versa. ”

An objection from Wickersley Parish Council states that the plans would result in “serious detriment to residential amenity due to late night noise..along with an increase in crime and anti-social behaviour associated with existing drinking premises within Wickersley district centre.”

However, Mr Vaughan says that people spilling onto the pavement will be avoided, as customers will be served by table service only – if they do not have a table, they cannot be served.

The application will be determined by councillors at Rotherham Council’s planning regulatory board on April 29.
