Sheffield hair salon gets colourful restyle during lockdown with the help of local artist
Cuts and colours aren’t the only transformation that’s going down at a leading hairdressers in Sheffield.
Headlines Artisan on Sharrowvale Road in Sheffield has had a restyle of its own during the lockdown and has been decorated with eye-catching art created by a Sheffield based artist.
Owners Tony and Irene Ball hit upon the idea in the midst of the pandemic and decided they wanted to support up-and-coming Sheffield artist K.aatyart, who is the star of the exhibition.
The artwork around the salon focuses on female characters with a variety of different hairstyles and uses bright colours to dress up the blank walls in the building.
Tony Ball said: “We were mulling over ways we could keep our customers entertained with something other than the normal stack of magazines you get to peruse whilst you’re having your hair done. And then we hit upon the idea of doing more with our blank walls.
“It’s a win-win really – the customers get to see K.aatyart’s amazing art, and she gets her work viewed by hundreds of people every month.”
K.aatyart put a post on Instagram, saying: “The lovely headlines team has given me a massive opportunity in displaying a new collection of my artwork, focusing on big hair in their studio.
“Thank you so much to everyone for all their support and also a big thank you to headlines artisan and their team for this brilliant opportunity! I am forever grateful.”
Sheffield-born K.aatyart is currently a student at Manchester Metropolitan University studying BA Fine Art.
