The wait is almost over – pubs and restaurants will be able to reopen from this weekend, following the easing of lockdown restrictions by the government.

It’s a long awaited moment for many who enjoy a drink, but going to the pub doesn’t come without its risk in the age of coronavirus.

Social distancing measures will be in place, and your local may not look the same as it once did with protective screens in place, one-way systems and hand sanitising stations installed.

Boris Johnson has urged the public not to ‘blow it now’ by not behaving safely and abiding by social distancing rules when the restrictions are eased for pubs, bars and restaurants.

The Closed Shop, which boasts a delicious range of ales and an outdoor area, confirmed that it would be open on Saturday but have advised to book a table in advance in order to avoid disappointment.

The CAMRA recommended pub have said that after deep consideration they will open on 4th July with limited opening times, shorter menu, enhanced hygiene and with the enforcement of social distancing guidance.

The Bar Stewards

The cheekily named pub are trialling opening up on Saturday, but have insisted that they will primarily run as a bottle shop.

Kelham Island Tavern

The Sheffield CAMRA pub of the year is set to reopen on Saturday, though will continue to focus on providing takeaway pints.

The beautifully situated and trendily decorated spot will open to the public on Saturday at the slightly later time of 12pm

The verdant pub will be opening a few days later on July 8 with new opening days/times and new rules in place.

The popular Heeley pub is also opting to wait until the weekend has past, oepning on July 6.

The bottle shop-cum-pub is opening its doors to thirsty customers on July 4. Customers are advised to book in advance to avoid disappointment.

The increasingly popular bar will open on Saturday at 12pm. In a statement on their Twitter they said: “given that our glorious leader has said we can open at 6am! We're going to open at 12 as planned because opening at 6 would be stupid and not safe for people for the rest of the day.”
