From Half marathons, 10Ks and charity runs, there’s something for all abilities, with some excellent routes across the stunning Peak District.
These are some of the main running events taking place in and around Sheffield this year that you can participate in.
5. Sheffield 10K event
The Sheffield 10K set right in the heart of the steel city is a must-do event for runners. Thousands took part in 2021, and it’s guaranteed to be bigger and better this year. The event will take place on Sunday, September 22, starting and finishing at Arundel Gate. Photo: Dean Atkins
6. Yorkshire Cakeathon
The gentle cake themed run in Penistone will return in March 2022. The course runs from the Village Hall in Penistone Inn in a 6.55 mile loop along the Trans Pennine Trail. It's off road, all on high quality surfaces, either tarmac or compressed gravel type bike paths. Participants are encouraged to bring their own cake creations. 7. The Monsal Trail Half Marathon
The Monsal Trail Half Marathon takes runners along the traffic-free Monsal Trail route, which offers spectacular views of the Peak District's limestone dales. The 20k race will take place on March 27. Photo: Jason chadwick
8. Peak District Challenge
This 100 km trekking Challenges takes runners on a tough and varied figure of eight route through Derbyshire’s finest scenery and offers five levels of difficulty for hill walkers and runners.
