5 ways a camping holiday could be better than staying at a glamorous hotel

According to reports, UK campsites have seen a 60 per cent rise in visitors during the summer season.

Caravan Guard has provided examples of how camping can be made just as good, or even better, than a hotel visit.

Home away from home

Camping allows you to bring personal items along that other holidays don’t such as a duvet and nice fluffy towels. This provides comfort and as they’re often light and don’t take up much space, they fit into small spaces with ease.

Surrounded by nature and breath-taking views

Possibly the greatest aspect of camping and caravanning are the views. The much welcome fresh air and ambient sounds of nature which could be heard nearby is great for your mental health and well-being. Plus you might get a sea or mountain view from a campsite pitch for £20 per night but that’s unlikely to be matched by a hotel.

The food

Campsites can often provide the best of two worlds, If you have local cuisine nearby, you could treat yourself to a night away from cooking. Additionally, campers have the option to cook for themselves from the comfort of their caravan or motorhome or on the barbecue.

Digital detox

Caravanning is the perfect opportunity for someone who wants to take a break from work and home life and enjoy some time surrounded by nature and picturesque views. It is often a popular option for families that have teenagers – taking them away from a games console, Snapchat or TikTok is normally a challenge when hanging around a hotel, but when the wilderness is all around, it’s a much easier task.

Pet friends

Although some hotels do accept dogs, these are rare which means your furry friends often have to be left behind at kennels or in the care of others when you go away. Taking your pets camping brings them into a natural environment, allowing them to be at their happiest and by your side. You’ll be amazed at how many dog-friendly campsites there are too – some even have their own warm doggy shower.
