Sheffield is close to so many beautiful towns and villages, so why not visit them this Easter for a change of scenery.
Below we have listed 11 places that can be reached within 90 minutes, and included some suggestions of things to do that will be suitable for the whole family.

5. Sandal, Wakefield
This one might be cheating as Sandal is technically a suburb in Wakefield, but it is still worth stopping by to visit the ruins of Sandal Castle. This mediaeval castle overlooks Wakefield and the River Calder - and you can bring along your dog. A short walk away is Pugneys Country Park (pictured) with stunning walking trails, and an activity and watersports centre. 6. Cleethorpes
Ok, this is a bit further away, but it can still be done as a day trip. Cleethorpes is a seaside town on the coast in Lincolnshire, and it is the nearest beach from Sheffield. The sandy beaches are bound to be a change from the Peak District. 7. Bakewell
In the Derbyshire Dales is the town of Bakewell. There’s one thing every visitor must do here - eat a Bakewell tart. This is a place busy with tourists due to its quaint streets, abundance of shops and cafes, and the picturesque River Wye that runs through it. The Weir Bridge is a popular attraction with an estimated 10,000 padlocks attached to it commemorating special moments from people’s lives. 8. Knaresborough
Knaresborough is a market town in North Yorkshire and is a great day out with the family. Here you can visit the viaduct up-close by getting a canoe on the River Nidd, stroll around Mother Shipton’s Cave, visit Knaresborough Castle, and have a picnic in Bebra Gardens before feeding the birds.
