2. Wentworth Woodhouse
Rotherham stately home Wentworth Woodhouse has lined up a host of activities to stretch young minds - and legs - for families over half-term.
Ensuring young visitors feel welcome and free to explore is top of the agenda at the Georgian mansion now owned by a Preservation Trust, and until June 6 there’s no charge for children.
Guided tours are running in the mornings, but in the afternoons visitors of all ages can pre-book a time to wander through some of the grand rooms at their own pace. For more info or to book visit https://wentworthwoodhouse.digitickets.co.uk/tickets Photo: David Sowter
3. Emergency Services Museum, West Bar
Visit the The National Emergency Services Museum, which is housed in a unique Victorian combined Police, Fire and Ambulance station on West Bar. They have recently installed a new exhibition called Daring Detectives & Dastardly Deeds which looks at the history of our police force, from uniformed police to detectives and forensics. It even features star exhibits from the detective who worked on the Jack the Ripper case.
