RUBBER-faced comedy superstar Lee Evans is playing four nights at Sheffield’s Motorpoint Arena and we’re celebrating with a money-can’t-buy prize – the chance to meet him backstage, writes Digital Editor Graham Walker.
Our first prize also includes tickets and four runners-up will get a pair of tickets each.
His Roadrunner tour comes to the venue from Thursday to Sunday, October 6 to 9.
The fourth date was added due to a phenomenal demand for tickets and all nights are expected to sell out to see the star of stage, television and the big screen.
Evans has starred in Hollywood blockbusters, including There’s Something About Mary, The Mouse Hunt, The Fifth Element and Funny Bones.
He played an evil Welsh scientist in a Doctor Who Easter special and he also starred in the lead role of Alfred Polly in the ITV1 drama production of the H G Wells novel The History of Mr Polly.
The funnyman even had his own sitcom series Lee Evans – So What Now?
He has had rave reviews for his West End theatre roles, including Samuel Beckett’s Endgame, Mel Brooks musical The Producers – for which he got an Olivier award nomination for his performance as Leo Bloom – and the Harold Pinter play The Dumb Waiter, where he received the London Theatregoers’ Choice Award.
But his Arena stage shows have become the place to see the comedy genius at his stand-up best, earning him accolades including a highly coveted Perrier Award and the Time Out Award for Comedy.
Wired And Wonderful was huge… XL was big… BIG was even bigger… now he is embarking on what is billed as his most ambitious tour to date, a new show with over 50 nights in the biggest arenas in the country.
Evans will be playing to more fans than ever on this record-breaking tour of the UK and Ireland.
His manic energy, uncanny observations, hilarious delivery and side-splitting material have made his live performances a must-see for comedy fans worldwide.
His tours and DVD releases year-on-year continue to smash sales and box office records. From 2002 to 2008 alone he performed to more than a million people.
So now’s the time to see what all the fuss is about.
