Daredevil Arenacross bikers are bringing the death-defying sport to Sheffield’s Motorpoint Arena and we have tickets to be won, writes Graham Walker.

After 2014’s sell out debut, the 2015 Arenacross Tour is back at the Motorpoint for the penultimate round of the series on Valentine’s Night, Saturday, February 14.

Arenacross, the indoor version of motocross, takes the spectacular elements of outdoor MX on to purpose-built indoor jump-infested dirt tracks.

It’s a family friendly, nonstop three hour white knuckle mix of all action indoor dirt bike racing and gravity defying Freestyle Motocross, set to a pumping soundtrack and laser show.

Arenacross takes the most spectacular elements of outdoor MX, boils them down into a concentrated cocktail and then shoehorns them into arenas onto purpose-built dirt tracks.

Racing is short, sharp and shockingly spectacular with huge triple jumps, murderous mogul sections and fast, banked corners all designed to provide a high-octane sensory feast.

With Freestyle Motocross the show takes place 40 feet above the track with riders hitting purpose-built ramps and attempting to out-do each other as they whip and back-flip 100kg motorcycles in a display of aerial gymnastics.

Confirmed for Sheffield is the Spanish Freestyle MX and Beat Boxing legend, Edgar Torronteras

The Godfather of Freestyle MX, Torronteras said: “Last year was amazing – the crowd were so noisy and Sheffield was just the best city on the tour.

“I’m back and I can’t wait to bring the roof down.”

Other big names to watch out for include Aussie Daniel McCoy, who took third place at Wembley last year, British rider Steven Clarke, MX2 Grand Prix rider and Finnish Supercross Champ’ Harri Kullas, Cyrille Coulon and Thomas Ramette.

Freestyle rider Jamie Squibb, who broke his back in 2012, is returning to wow the crowds with his super cool back flips.

Matt Bates, MD of series promoter e22 Sports, said: “We’re aiming to hit 50,000 spectators over the winter in a showcase of indoor racing and Freestyle.”
