Arenacross bike lovers are getting revved up for a flaming hot Valentine’s date at Sheffield Motorpoint Arena.
After 2014’s sell out debut, the 2015 Arenacross Tour is back with flames, laser lights and some of the world’s top riders for the penultimate round of the series on Saturday, February 14.
Arenacross, the indoor version of motocross, takes the spectacular elements of outdoor MX on to purpose-built indoor jump-infested dirt tracks.
With its killer mix of all-action indoor dirt bike racing and gravity-defying Freestyle Motocross, set to a pumping soundtrack and laser show, Arenacross is a non-stop, three-hour white-knuckle ride.
Racing is short, sharp and shockingly entertaining with huge triple jumps, murderous mogul sections and fast, banked corners all designed to provide a high-octane sensory feast.
With Freestyle Motocross the show takes place 40 feet above the track with riders hitting purpose-built ramps and then attempting to out-do each other as they whip and back-flip 100kg motorcycles in an amazing display of aerial gymnastics. Once considered MX mavericks, freestylers are now highly-paid sporting stars who compete in year-round world tour events such as the X Games
The 2014 Arenacross tour was an amazing success, selling out venues across the country and showing new and established fans the true potential of the sport.
And if you took in a show last year, prepare to have your mind blown all over again in 2015 as e22 Sports take’s it to another level altogether.
Confirmed for 2015 in Sheffield is the Spanish Freestyle MX and Beat Boxing legend, Edgar Torronteras.
“Last year was Amazing. The crowd were so noisy and Sheffield was just the best city on the tour. I’m back and I can’t wait to bring the roof down,” said Torronteras, the so-called Godfather of Freestyle MX.
Aussie Daniel McCoy is set to return and challenge the championship again in 2015.
McCoy, who has previously placed second and third in Australian SX events, took third place at Wembley last year and he remembers this being a particularly impressive show.
British rider Steven Clarke is back for the tour. A serious contender last year, he will without a doubt, be one to watch this year.
Back riding with former team-mate McCoy for Arenacross, on an all-new Hsqvarna backed team, they are set to provide some explosive racing.
MX2 Grand Prix rider and Finnish Supercross Champ’, Harri Kullas is the latest Pro to sign up to the Arenacross tour... he’s quick indoors and only 4 yrs ago Ricky Carmichael picked him out as a future champ.
Freestyle rider Jamie Squibb joined e22 on the tour last year and wowed the crowds with his super cool backflips.
After breaking his back in 2012, no one would have blamed Jamie for never wanting to get back on a bike again, but he did and now it’s been confirmed he will be back in front of crowds for the 2015 Arenacross Tour.
Meanwhile, presenting an all French Team, SR75-MOLSON believe they have signed two of Europe’s finest indoor dirt racing specialists, and most would be inclined to agree.
Both returning once again to Arenacross for 2015, Cyrille Coulon and Thomas Ramette will no doubt complement each other perfectly; engaging the rest of the field in some hard, fast and intense racing.
Czech athlete Petr Pilat will join the Arenacross FMX boys in Sheffield for the very first time. The 23 year old first tried his hand at freestyle when he was 11 and at age 14 became the youngest FMX rider in the world to pull a backflip.
“After the success of the winter’s increased the Arenacross series it made sense to take the tour to just one more, including a round in Scotland and I’m really pleased to have added Manchester as the first round,” says Matt Bates, MD of series promoter e22 Sports.
“We’re aiming to hit 50,000 spectators over the winter in a showcase of indoor racing and Freestyle.”
The 2014 Arenacross tour was a high-octane family spectacular and built on the success of 2013, continuing to sell out arenas across the country and combining sporting action with an incredible show to keep the fans on the edges of their seats.
