Dick Whittington, Hope Methodist Hall
Dick , played by Joanne Elliott, and his faithful moggy (Sean Ryan) will be walking from Hope to London every night for Hope Amateur Dramatic Independent Theatre’s pantomime this week.
Producer Carolyn Garwes said: “When HADIT chose this year’s panto, we hadn’t realised that it is exactly 40 years since Dick Whittington was performed in Hope by St Peter’s Church Women’s Group.
“Several of the cast from that production are involved in this one, including local singer Jane Bramwell, a ‘Chime’ in 1974, who is sticking with tradition as a ‘Bow Belle’ this time, and caterer Joanne Elliott ofJo’s Pantry, billed as one of the Little Children then, who is now playing our hero Dick!”
The show runs from tomorrow to Saturday at the Methodist Hall, Edale Road.
The show starts at 7.30 pm and doors open at 7pm.
Tickets cost £8 and £6 for under-16s.
They are available from Hope Post Office or by calling 01433 620 665.
Tickets are already sold out for the Friday and Saturday night performances, though.
Carolyn, who is also the group’s secretary, has said it was formed in 2009 “over a few too many pints in the Cheshire Cheese... many more pints later, we now have two pantos, two plays and a rehearsed reading under our belts. “
She added: “Feedback from our audiences on all of these has been really good.”
HADIT rehearse and perform in Hope Methodist Hall and hold regular play readings in the Woodbine Cafe.
New members and supporters are always welcome.
