A COMBINATION of much-loved musicals, popular plays and singing talent will take to the stage in Sheffield this summer.
Alan Bennett’s The History Boys and Kay Mellor play A Passionate Woman form part of Sheffield Theatres’ new season.
Productions running at The Crucible between May and September will also include Tim Firth’s new musical, This Is My Family, hot on the heels of the critically-acclaimed version of My Fair Lady.
At the Lyceum, the brand new musical 9 to 5 and Cole Porter’s High Society are set to delight audiences.
Artistic director Daniel Evans said: “I’m delighted to announce details of our forthcoming work in Sheffield.
“While this is undoubtedly a challenging time for us, having received our third round of local authority cuts in as many years, it’s crucial that we continue to celebrate the essential part Sheffield Theatres plays in making Sheffield a vibrant place to live.
“I’m thrilled that we continue to welcome some of the best productions currently on tour to the Lyceum stage and hope our audiences will join us for what I am sure will be another fantastic season.”
Bosses have also announced that popular musical Dirty Dancing will give audiences the time of their life next April.
Tickets for the new season at Sheffield Theatres go on sale on Saturday, March 23.
