Barnsley Amateurs’ Musical Theatre Group is preparing to put on a musical adaptation of Charles Dickens’ novel Great Expectations.
The production will be at the town’s Lamproom Theatre in March.
‘Pip’ was written by Barnsley writer-musician John Higgins and was premiered in 1972 at the Barnsley Civic Theatre.
Ian Stead, director of the theatre group, said: “The company is extremely excited.
“This is a happy family show with lots of drama, dance, colour and spectacle, telling a brilliant story enhanced by an array of catchy and poignant tunes.”
Pip is being performed at the Lamproom Theatre, Westgate, Barnsley, on March 21 from 7.30pm. Tickets cost £11 for adults and £10 for concessions.
