Suburbs targeted in armed crackdown
ARMED officers spent the weekend stopping and searching people in the Broomhall and Sharrow suburbs of Sheffield in a crackdown on serious crime.
Patrols were mounted in response to a number of recent shootings and other serious incidents in the areas.
A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said: "This was a high visibility operation, taking a robust approach to targeting serious crime.
"This is a key operation, to ensure that serious crime is not a regular
occurrence in Sheffield and that Sheffield remains one of the safest cities in the country."
