Stock market gains
THE London stock market started the week on a positive note today, holding on to Friday's dramatic gains thanks to a rally across Asian stocks.
The FTSE 100 Index rose nearly 1pc in the first hour of trading as investors took the lead from strong gains made on stock exchanges in Japan and South Korea earlier this morning.
Tokyo’s Nikkei 225 Index rose by 3pc, while the Korea Composite Stock Price Index leapt by 5.7pc, marking its biggest percentage gain for more than five years.
