Spireites aspire to a national game without racism

CHESTERFIELD FC's multi-national squad of players have been bonding over a curry in preparation for the national anti-racism One Game, One Community week.

The cosmopolitan line-up - which includes players from England, Ireland, Australia, France, Scotland, Hungary and Germany - enjoyed a meal at Whittington Moor restaurant The Star of Sall.

Manager Lee Richardson said: "In the month where we are celebrating One Game, One Community to promote inclusion in the game, it was timely for all the lads to get together so we could celebrate the diversity we have in the team.

"We are grateful to Tariq Kahn and his staff for making us so welcome at The Star of Sall where we enjoyed great food and great company."

A collection will be taken before Saturday's game with Dagenham & Redbridge with all proceeds donated to the Bluebell Wood Children's Hospice.

The hospice, near Dinnington, is due to open next year to provide a home from home for up to 200 children with life limiting and terminal illnesses.
