South Yorkshire showstoppers set to take to the stage

Theatregoers are set to be wowed by a unique stage show featuring a magical schoolgirl, a man and a monster, singing nuns, a boy in a technicolor dreamcoat and even a time warping Transylvanian transvestite.

Wales Musical Theatre Company is back with its latest production called Show Stoppers 2016, which promises to be a spectacular musical revue packed with songs from some of the world’s best loved classic shows.

It will feature a cast of more than 70 performers aged from five to 80 when they take to the stage at the Acorn Theatre in Worksop from September 14 to 17.

Among the musical favourites being represented in this year’s lineup will be Matilda, Beauty and the Beast, Jersey Boys, Joseph and his Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Jekyll and Hyde, Sister Act and the Rocky Horror Show.

Director Nick Challenger said: “We really do think that this year we have a selection that fully represents the enormous age range of our company.

“Our junior section, which has 33 members, ranges from five to 16 years old, and our adult section, with more than 40 members, goes all the way up to 80 so that’s a lot of tastes and talents to accommodate.”
