Slave event makes a point
A NEW production will be staged in Sheffield to coincide with the bicentennial year of the abolition of the slave trade.
Paul Field’s presentation of Cargo will be staged at the Montgomery Hall Theatre in Surrey Street, Sheffield city centre on Friday, September 28.
The show uses music, words, dance and images to tell the story of the Abolitionists’ campaign and the struggles by the African slaves to end the trade in human misery 200 years ago.
Cargo also aims to raise awareness of the forms of slavery that still exist today - and ways that ordinary people can make a difference.
