It’s a big, bright beautiful world - oh yes it is!
Shrek is in town and everything has taken on a bright technicolour hue. As the curtains roll open and the music kicks in, I can already tell this is going to be good. And I’m not disappointed. From the opening number to the final encore, Shrek The Musical - which rolled into Sheffield’s Lyceum Theatre this month - leaves me tapping my toes and grinning like a lunatic. And even more impressive, it keeps my nearly four-year-old daughter entranced and engaged for the entire two-and-a-half hour production.
The comedy is spot-on for both kids and adults, and the singing from every member of the cast is impressive. A real sliver of West End pazazz in the steel city. I love how Lord Farquaad’s tiny stature is displayed, I love the singing cookie I adore Shrek and Fiona’s chemistry. Perfection.
