Shiver me timbers, as ladies strip

MEET Sheffield's very own Calendar Girls!

The group of ladies from Arnold Laver Timber World made a date with charity at the launch of the calendar - put together to raise money for Help A Hallam Child.

They got together to hold a 'Laver Ladies Night' at Sheffield United's Bramall Lane stadium, compered by Becky Hayes from Hallam FM.

The girly night also featured a hair demonstration by Michael Lewis from the Headlines salon - a northern hairdresser of the year finalist - and a fashion show, along with the calendar launch.

The event was just one part of a year-long fundraising campaign by the Mosborough company.

Staff at the firm have spent the last 12 months raising cash for the charity's Read to Success initiative - which aims to pay for 50 teaching assistants in schools throughout the region to help boost young people's reading skills.

Peter Howarth, sales director at Arnold Laver, said: "The staff keep thinking of great fundraising ideas, and they have excelled themselves yet again."

Dave Kilner, from Help A Hallam Child, added: "Arnold Laver Timber World has done a wonderful job raising so much money.

"The female staff featuring in the calendar are great sports. All of the money raised goes to help young people in this region."
