The company is currently in rehearsals for new musical Loserville, which comes to Sheffield’s Montgomery Theatre from September 21 to 24.

But with energy needing to be high at all times, the cast found a tasty approach to keeping on top of some complex song and dance routines - by bringing in homemade cakes and buns to eat during breaks.

Each member makes a small donation in return for a tasty treat, which goes to St Luke’s Hospice.

Danni Hibbert Birks, group spokesperson, said: “Loserville is a fantastic high energy show and we’ve been ready to dig deep to buy homemade cakes and buns to give us a boost at rehearsal and at the same time put a bit into the St. Luke’s charity tin.”

The cast chose to support the hospice because several members have relatives who have been cared for by the charity. In addition to the cake sales, group chairman Andy Hibbert is set to embark on a 10k sponsored run later this year.
