Sheffield Homes spreads its wings

DISPLAYS of falconry and wood carving, and advice on gardening and the environment were on offer during an event for residents of a Sheffield neighbourhood.

The open day took place at Norfolk Park Heritage Centre and was organised by Sheffield Council and housing management company Sheffield Homes.

Residents who attended were met by a surprise guest - BBC Look North weatherman Paul Hudson.

During the open day, a police dog handler and graffiti removal team also showed off their work, and people could meet with representatives from groups such as Community Forestry, South Yorkshire Badger Association, Heeley City Farm, Weston Park Museum, Street Force, Veolia and South Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive.

Janet Parry, of Sheffield Homes, said: "This was a fantastic opportunity to bring together people from across the city who volunteer their valuable time for the benefit of other people living in their neighbourhood."
