Rowdy brothers need jail threat

BROTHERS who made their neighbours lives misery in Parson Cross will end up in jail if they carry on terrorising their neighbourhood.

And so they should.

The Hooton brothers are lucky they aren’t jailed already.

Their neighbours have had to put up with their loutish behaviour for long enough. Decent people shouldn’t have to live next to abusive, aggressive and anti-social neighbours.

The city council has been warning that it will crack down on such behaviour and The Star backs strong action.

One of the brothers says he ‘just can’t stop himself’ swearing at his neighbour.

Eviction for his family and five years in prison might just persuade him to curb his tongue.

Peace and quiet? Keep it to yourself

PEACE and quiet, a dream for a lot of us it seems.

But according to a new survey Sheffielders are more likely to find it than many others in our region.

Thirty per cent of the city remains undisturbed which is less than it was but an achievement compared to places like Leeds with four per cent.

But Barnsley and Rotherham only have 11 per cent and four per cent respectively and that’s a shame.

In an age where noise, speed and development are all around is its good to have somewhere tranquil and away from the hustle and bustle of daily life.

The trouble is that the more people know about it the less chance there is of keeping it that way!

TV bearing up!

MUCH excitement over the announcement that two old TV favourites, Peppy and Fox, are about to make a return to the small screen.

In case you don't remember, they're the two cartoon characters - a polar bear and a fox - who spent more than a decade advertising Fox's Glacier mints before being pensioned off in 1988.

But doesn't it say something about the state of British television that we're getting animated about the commercials rather than the shows in between?
