Rival bosses on same side

SHEFFIELD United manager Bryan Robson and Wednesday boss Brian Laws will be on the same side at an awards ceremony recognising the city's unsung heroes.

The pair, along with former Owls star Carlton Palmer and city dignitaries, have agreed to attend the annual Night of Honour awards in November, where ordinary people are praised for leading extraordinary lives.

Actress Jennie McAlpine, who plays Coronation Street character Fizz, will be a guest presenter at the event, at Ponds Forge.

Organiser Louise Davies, from Sheffield’s Hope City Church, based at the Megacentre on Bernard Road, said: “Sheffield’s Night of Honour is an incredible event.

“Instead of rewarding celebrity we honour the ordinary people in Sheffield who live extraordinary lives.

“We all know someone who has gone out of their way to make other people feel special.”

Categories include Sheffield’s Best Rising Star, Schools Worker, Investor in Children, Community Organisation of the Year and Carer.
