A ramp would help Peter

Elderly Peter Warnes has been living in a Sheffield flat on Deer Park Road, Stannington, for five years, but health problems have confined him to a wheelchair.

Now his daughter Jackie says a ramp over the two steps between his front door and the street is all she needs to take him out and vastly improve his quality of life.

THE wheels are in motion - a Sheffield Council spokeswoman said an official would assess the flat by the end of this month.

She added: "It's in the system, a lot of people need to be looked at and we will go through everyone in turn."
