Race fix man denies charge

A BUSINESSMAN accused of race fixing denied to the Jockey Club in 2003 he had bet on a horse to lose.

Legal Set finished third in the 2.15pm race at Lingfield on December 30 2002.

Miles Rodgers, aged 38, of Barnsley, denies conspiracy to defraud Betfair customers and concealing proceeds of crime. The Rodgers accounts had staked 73,820 on Legal Set to lose and stood to make 20,759, the Old Bailey heard. The trial continues.
