La dolce vita is tightening its grip on Sheffield, as Nonnas’ popular take-away service gears up to become a fully fledged Street Food Cycle Café.

The Italian restaurant – a cornerstone of Ecclesall Road since 1996 – launched Nonnas Pizza in Hickmott Road last year, as an evening take-out venue and home for Nonnas’ 120-strong cycling club, La Squadra.

But the diet of pizza, pasta and desserts has proved so popular that regulars are now clamouring for full daytime service.

So, from June 30, the place will acquire a new name and new opening hours: from 9am - 10pm, Wed to Sun.

It will also boast its own coffee machine.

“Street food is really taking off, and the interest in cycling is massive. But the coffee element has been missing until now,” says Gian Bohan, Nonnas co-founder.

“We’re putting in a new coffee machine and developing a full range of branded coffees for the café.”

The menu – drawn up by Nonnas’ chefs including young Sicilian Damiano Stefano – also features a range of grab-and-go food such as arancini rice balls, baby calzone and a daily £5 special.
