£64,000 drugs haul

AMPHETAMINE worth £64,000 was discovered in a car after a police chase through Sheffield.

Officers pursued a Volvo S40 along Penistone Road, Parkside Road and Middlewood Road for around 10 minutes.

He was caught after turning on to Middlewood Road, which has been closed and blocked off due to damage caused by the floods in June.

The motorist tried to turn around in the car park of the Middlewood Tavern but was stopped and arrested.

A search of the car unearthed a holdall in the boot containing four separate two kilogram blocks of base amphetamine. The 36-year-old, from Wigan, faces drugs supply and dangerous driving charges.
