£45,000 is raised by the city's big run

South Yorkshire folk raised £45,000 for charity in this year's Sheffield Half-Mara-thon.

The 13.1 mile race, held in May, has benefited eight nominated charities and the runners who made it happen were honoured at a ceremony attended by the Lord Mayor Coun Arthur Dunworth.

The money was split between the RSPCA Sheffield, Macmillan Cancer Support, Multiple Sclerosis Therapy Centre South Yorkshire, Sheffield Wildlife Trust, Marie Curie Cancer Care, Sheffield Royal Society for the Blind, Help a Hallam Child, and the Myasthenia Gravis Associa-tion.
