PREVIEW: TV chefs the Pigott Brothers plan spicy treat at Flavours Food Festival

TV celebrity chefs the Pigott Brothers have given the Barnsley chop to the notion of cooking up Yorkshire dishes when they guest at Elsecar's Flavours Food Festival.

The fun-loving siblings from down south say they'll leave all that to those who do it best - their Yorkshire fans.

Brothers Matt, Sam and Ed will instead demonstrate their signature spicy dishes with cooking demonstrations both days at the Flavours Food Festival at Elsecar Heritage Centre near Barnsley, on the weekend of October 20 and 21. .

Michelin award-winning celebrity chef Jean-Christophe Novelli will top the bill when he appears on the opening day of the festival to host two 45 minute cooking demos, showcasing a selection of his recipes which people can recreate at home.

Indian food expert Mira Manek will also give demonstrations.

There will be 50 food and drink producers, street entertainers, performance artists, live music into the evening and more at the Elsecar Heritage Centre venue.

Visitors will also be encouraged to explore the original Earl Fitzwilliam's Workshops, now converted into a series of independent shops, antique centre, play area and quaint cafes.

The Pigott Brothers melted the hearts of the nation as runners-up in the final of 2017’s The Great Family Cooking Showdown on BBC2.

"I don't think we can go all the way up north and cook your own dish for you - we'll let you do that and we'll bring our ridiculous slightly spiced stuff instead," said Pigott brother Matt.

Sam revealed: "We will be doing chicken wings with a Peruvian hot sauce. Amarillo cheese to coat some wings with that. Ed will do some chimichurri Parmentier potatoes.

"That will be served with a blue cheese dip and a bit of charred sweetcorn."

Ed added: "We try to cook normal-ish dishes but make them a little bit interesting with some big flavours. Our recipes are all fairly simple, but they pack a big punch. We post all our recipes up on Instagram."
