Police take man off tram

TRAM services were temporarily disrupted when police boarded a tram on Park Grange Road, Norfolk Park, Sheffield, and ordered a man to leave.

Witnesses said five police cars turned up at the scene and said a man, who was carrying a holdall-style bag, was asked to leave.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “We can confirm that police officers boarded a tram on Park Grange Road to carry out a ‘stop and search’.

“A man was taken off the tram and his possessions searched. He was then released.

“The search was carried out as a precautionary measure following a report that a man had been acting suspiciously.”

The incident happened on Wednesday August 29.
